Nonprofit Cooperative Housing Organizations
The Association for Resident Control of Housing maintains a website for co-ops and other forms of resident controlled housing in the New England area.

The Cooperative Housing Coalition works to strengthen the ongoing government relations work being done in concert around legislative and regulatory housing issues of mutual interest to the National Association of Housing Cooperatives (NAHC), the National Cooperative Bank (NCB), Development Corporation (NCBDC).

CSI Support and Development Services, Inc. develops and provides cooperative housing for low income seniors.

The Council of New York Cooperatives & Condominiums (CNYC) is a nonprofit membership organization for housing cooperatives and condominiums in the New York City area. It focuses primarily on market-rate cooperatives.

The Federation of New York Housing Cooperatives and Condominiums (FNYHC) is a not-for-profit membership organization for housing cooperatives in the New York City area.

The Greater Washington Mutual Housing Association provides training and other services for small low income co-ops in Washington DC.

The Midwest Association of Housing Cooperatives (MAHC) is a membership association serving housing cooperatives in several Midwestern states.

The Northcountry Cooperative Development Fund is located in Minneapolis, Minnesota.

The Potomac Association of Housing Cooperatives (PAHC) serves cooperatives located in Maryland, the District of Columbia, and Virginia.

The Senior Cooperative Foundation is a network of cooperatively owned senior housing in rural areas in the upper Midwest. Their website includes a listing of senior housing cooperatives.

The Urban Homesteading Assistance Board (UHAB) works with low to moderate income housing cooperatives in New York City.

Other Cooperative Organizations

Camp Co-op, situated in the Sierra National Forest, provides affordable camping and varied activities. Since 1938, campers have visited Co-op Camp to enjoy the majesty of the natural surroundings and the cooperative experience that nurtures and inspires.

The NCB (NCB) provides a broad array of financial services to the nation's cooperative businesses, including many housing co-ops. NCB also provides loans for the purchase of a share in a cooperative.

The National Cooperative Business Association (NCBA) represents all sectors of cooperative businesses throughout the U.S. Their web site provides information about all different types of cooperatives.

Related Organizations
The Cohousing Network is a network of communities, households, and professionals involved with cohousing, a type of housing where residents specifically want a stronger level of community involvement in their neighborhood, often including shared meals and community space.

The Fellowship for Intentional Communities is a resource for anyone interested in living in an intentional community.

NASCO, the North American Students of Cooperation, is a network of university student cooperatives in the U.S. and Canada.

Cooperatives Around the World
The International Co-operative Alliance, the apex organization for all types of co-ops around the world, has links to cooperative housing organizations in other countries.

The CHF International, a U.S.-based nonprofit organization, helps families throughout the world improve their housing and communities.

Canadian Co-op Network offers web site design and application management services to housing co-ops as well as a free application service to the general public. Visitors can tour housing co-ops and apply online.

The Co-operative Housing Federation of Canada helps you explore the changing world of housing cooperatives and their members.
